Marshmallows and toothpicks and eager hands to create. After watching this video my kindy, grade 2, 4 and 6 kiddo's began their work.
As much fun as this little project is try and stay hands off. The learning happens when each child sees cause and effect of different shapes and discovering concepts without moms "help". This becomes an excellent way to problem solve and learn from their own mistakes. Geometric shapes fall into this lesson nicely as a quick to the side lesson. We talked about 2D and 3D shapes identify them with proper names. We also quickly went over different angles right angle, acute angle, and obtuse angles.
