Planting Time

            Sleepy slumber of two wee little loves, ah I could stare at them all day. I can't believe they are mine.   Henry is getting stronger all the time. Baby steps. This week I put him in the exsersaucer and he managed for a couple minutes. He is slowly building endurance to handle holding his head up more and more. I am so proud of how far he has come.

As a new season of outdoor work begins in hopes we are home for the summer, with so much to do, it is tempting to make a big to do list and dive deep into it. With energy, swiftly, and efficiently. The list at times is daunting and overwhelming yet I have fallen in love with the work that this land requires of us. My garden. The animals. The woods.
But with a small child at my side (or two or three or more), it is so important that especially now, I quiet that voice of efficiency in my head that occasionally whispers "it would be easier/faster/tidier if you just did it yourself!"  Reminding myself that the work will always be there and to sit and linger a little longer with those snuggles babies. Life has been overwhelming living in a hospital room or hotel with nine children. The soil of my garden under my finger nails is healing for my heart. It grounds me, something solid in the crashing waves around me.

This week in the garden I will be;
cleaning winters wrath,
planting seedlings,
in awe of my garlic that's coming up,
filling my flower boxes,
bare feet in the cool soil, grounding as it's called.

We just started this weekend! I always plant the flowers first! The beautiful flowers encourage me through the rest of the planting. Oh, and I already have massage booked for later this week because I'm going to need it! Children and gardening are a beautiful combination. They love to cultivate the garden and harvest the veggies! I let my kids have their own spot in the garden rather than putting them in charge of part of mine! Haha. Some day!
